PA DHS has announced Stakeholder/Group Listening Sessions

Oct 30, 2024 | Uncategorized

The PA Department of Human Services has announced stakeholder/group listening session dates. These sessions are where you can provide direct feedback that will be considered when developing the State Plan Amendment (SPA) to include CHW services as billable services under Medicaid. We have been meeting with IMPaCT, who is helping to organize these sessions, to ensure that they are valuable and effective.

Each session will begin with a CHW Impact Story from a CHW employed by the listening group type. For example, the Community Based Organization (CBO) Listening Session will begin with a CHW impact story from a CHW employed by a CBO.

Each Stakeholder/Listening Group has different challenges, successes, populations served, and ways their CHWs conduct their work within the organization and in the communities they serve. These are unique to each group and need to be shared to determine what is needed for a successful SPA for ALL employer types. This is why it is critical that you attend the Listening Group that best represents your employer type.

Please register now and be ready to engage and provide your feedback. Let’s continue to be heard and help create a PA that has a sustainable CHW workforce!

In the table below you will find the details for each of the 8 sessions along with the link to register for the session.

Leadership Academy is a  four-month, hybrid leadership program that equips Community Health Workers (CHWs) to translate frontline experience into policy impact—especially around Medicaid implementation, sustainable financing, and equitable access. Participants learn how PA policy is made, how to brief decision-makers, and how to track advocacy results.

PACHW’s Leadership Academy was incredibly valuable for staff to practice their public speaking skills and work with the PA General Assembly.
