David Wiles, CCHW was selected by the PACHW Board of Directors as the inagural Executive Director of the PA CHW Collaborative and started his tenure today.
“I am beyond honored and humbled to serve as the inaugural executive director,” David said. “We, CHWs, are an invaluable asset to the communities we serve and are critical to promote health and wellbeing across the commonwealth. PACHW Team, I have one question for you, I am all in, are you? Let’s continue the fight to sustain, support, and grow the position of CHW. We are necessary for a healthier tomorrow.”
David Wiles, CCHW, CHES has become the inaugural Executive Director of the Pennsylvania CHW Collaborative as of September 3rd, 2024. Before this transition, he was the Senior Community Health Worker (CHW) at Cornerstone Care Community Health Centers, an FQHC in Southwest PA, and had worked there for over three years. He served as the Chair of the PA CHW Collaborative Board of Directors and still serves as the Chair of the PA CHW Legislative Outreach Committee. He has fully embodied the mission to secure the sustainable financing of CHWs in PA. His vision is to establish a system where CHWs will not only be sustained but will flourish in their career while improving the lives of their clients.
Wiles will provide leadership in advancing PACHW’s vision to grow an organization where all of Pennsylvania’s Community Health Workers have the opportunity to actively shape policies, decisions, and resources that impact the social drivers of health in Pennsylvania. PACHW is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving CHWs, CHW employers and CHW allies across Pennsylvania. The organization conducted a regional search for its new executive director to reflect alignment with its mission to unite and empower Pennsylvania’s community health workers through active collaboration, education, advocacy, and support. Community health workers are public health workers who are trusted members of their communities. They act as intermediaries between health/social services and community members, to improve health access and quality, while addressing needs related to social determinants of health. PACHW champions the development of a strong CHW professional identity through leadership in statewide advocacy and policy change to impact the communities served across Pennsylvania.
